I've been playing with the direct PostScript settings to determine which
give the best results with Acrobat Distiller (v4 and v8) ...
The Manual (yes, I do read it occasionally ...) advises selecting
Generic PostScript in order to produce a PS file "for use in another
program". I'm using OPW under WindowsXP (via the VMware Fusion emulator)
on a MacBook Pro, so ... I print the OPW document to (PS) file, then
take the PS file over to MacOS, and open it with Acrobat Distiller (v8)
-- I assume this is what is meant by using the PS file in another
program. Alternatively, I can print direct to Acrobat Distiller (v4) on
the Windows side -- the results appear more or less the same.
If I select "Generic PostScript" before generating the PS, in the
resulting PDF about 2cm is cropped from the top of an A4 page. If I
leave "Generic PostScript" unchecked, then this doesn't happen.
The above is just an observation. I get perfectly good PDFs using the
following PS choices:
Language - Level 3
Download font as - Type 1
Generic PostScript - unchecked
