[softwarelist] Re: OPW - Enhanced justification

There appears to be a consistent problem when a line ends in a full stop, which becomes more evident when there are several such lines close together. I find that these lines do not always align to the right margin (neither on screen nor in print). Playing with the enhanced justification settings fails to rectify the problem.

It's hard to say without seeing an example.

One thought that occurred to me is that on Windows characters are painted on pixel boundaries, and pixels are quite wide (e.g. 120 per inch). To improve on screen results OPW has to do some fiddling inserting pixels.

It's different on RISC OS where the font painting takes place at a much higher resolution (1/72000 th's of an inch).

Anyway my suggestion is to turn on direct PostScript output, and view the results (on a PostScript printer or GhostScript/GSView). OPW's direct PostScript works at much higher resolution.
