The problem exactly. The problem with using Zap as an editor is that it
can be set to hide CRLF from DOS files and retain it as the line
terminator. I knew this but got the same result having used ViewXLS to
produce the text output from the original Excel file - then I assumed
that something else was causing the problem.
Viewing the file in Edit showed the extra x0D at the end of each line.
Removing these did indeed remove the extra blank output record between
each real record.
Now to find out how to switch the behaviour of Zap so that I stand a
chance of avoiding said problem.
