Is there any particular reason for such large images? I have found that even smallish (200-400Kb) jpegs give good enough quality when printed I can't understand the printers demand for minimum 600dpi (gigabyte sized) images. When I've had the sort of memory problems you refer to I use !ChangeFSI (or !FSI_Batch) to reduce the size of the images without any loss of definition.

Until the images are in their final form, I prefer to keep them as 1200dpi TIFFs, which makes for a very large OPW document. Ultimately, however, I should be able to reduce the image size.
