The default thickness for borders in OvPro (RISC OS) is 1mm.
Is there any way to change this - I haven't yet found one.

I'm a little surprised, but no, there is no way to configure this. It is hard wired into the code - of course that does mean you could find the word in !RunImage and change it.

By far the easiest way to have parallel horizontal lines is a frame
with top and bottom borders (say around a sub-heading); a master page
with 0.25mm top and bottom borders separates off the main text from
header and footer; etc

You can embed lines in the text flow. I suppose that is a way of getting horizontal rule offs, and embedded lines will move with the text.

Beyond that I'd say use lines rather than frames if you can. Frames carry an overhead of text flow and so are less efficient.

A good way of working is to have "template" objects, i.e. things which you copy when you want to create a particular thing.

I'll give you an example, I often scan paper forms into OP, I then put lots of text frames on top of them where I am supposed to fill in stuff. I fill in the form and print it out - saving me and the world from my handwriting.

These text frames need to have transparent fill colour, no text inset, no text repulsion, vertically centred text, and horizontally centred text. The temptation is to keep creating objects like this from scratch, which is tedious.

Much easier is to create one such object, then use ALT+SHIFT drag and drop to make copies where you want.

As an alternative have a document containing items, and either drag and drop them or copy them via the clipboard.
