But in this situation with a page containing a mixture of text and
graphics, what do you do with it once everything is selected.
You certainly can't Ctrl-C then CTRL-V the lot in one go into the new
document.
If it's a relatively simple page you can do it in bits, but anything 
complex becomes hard labour.

The way I do it... see my reply to Charles.

It would be exceedingly useful if a page of everything selected could be 
converted into a new intermediate chapter.
