No. As I said if you have nothing selected then "Select All" selects all objects. If you have the caret in some text then it selects all the text in the story. If you have a picture frame selected it selects all objects and if you have a picture selected it actually deselects the picture and then selects all objects.

I can think of another oddity, on the Windows version if you have the caret in a text frame the cursor keys move the caret around. If the text frame is selected but the caret is not in the text then they move the frame around.

That's another point, you can have a text frame selected but no caret - just right click on a non-selected text frame. Right click on one with the caret in and it marks text.

You may say it should not work as above, I say these are useful tips that will let you work faster.
