I've done several 4.02 to 4.39 ROM upgrades and they were just about
the easiest of all, so you've been very unfortunate.
ISTR that some CD drives could not be driven by the version of
CDFSSoftATAPI in OS 4 and there is an alternative version to cope with
this on the riscos.com site.
