moves07 LAUNCHES programme online:
6 days of films, talks, workshops, parties in MANCHESTER AND THE
NORTH WEST, 12-17 JUNE 2007
Manchester-based moves returns for the third year as the largest UK
platform for screen-based workexploring movement in the form of dance
films, interactive installations, animation and experimental shorts
and more...
Over 6 days, moves07 will host a panoply of visual delights from all
over the world and welcome international filmmakers, industry
professionals and academics to partake in a 2-day conference,
screenings, discussions and workshops, and debate the ever-expanding
boundaries of the medium.
Highlights of the fest include:
8 international screenings of recent work from animation shorts and
music videos to more experimental work, documentary and fiction films;
a historical journey expounding the development of movement on screen
including a programme curated by the influential French ‘Cinemateque
de la Danse’ and an homage to American dance film innovator, Maya Deren;
the world premiere of an interactive installation by North West
artists Bex and Mark Haig;
daily panel discussions to address industry and content issues such
as the commissioning of dance films for TV channels (Dance Films on
the Small Screen - part 1);
a 2-day conference on 'Choreography on Screen';
live events including a live film score by a Mancunian-Parisian duet
and a closing night of electronic mayhem and syncopated visuals;
as part of our special highlight on new French and German work,
several renowned artists such as Chris Ziegler (ZKM), Xavier Baert
(French Cinematheque de la dance), Gwendaline Bacchini and Christian
Gaupner (Passages/HUmatic) will also join to deliver talks and
workshops.
