Hi all,
We are currently accepting applications and offers for participation
in an event scheduled for mid-December in an art and performance
space located in Tribeca. The goal of this event is to open up a
trading ground for ideas, methodologies and practices between
performing artists, dancers, visual artists, scientists, theorists,
engineers, ...
The specific task is to address the topic of dance technologies
within the context of cross-disciplinary work. The event's theme of
"dance technology" is certainly broad enough to include algorithmic
approaches, visualization strategies and other techniques for
organizing movement in the body. Rather than seeking answers we are
looking to make connections. Researchers in architecture, musical
interfaces, animation and other modes of inquiry who are looking to
interface with the body in more immediate and intimate ways are
encouraged to apply. This event aims to provide new opportunities to
meet others who are seeking a new practice through disciplinary
convergence.
We would love to hear from you! What you choose to show us is up to
you. We are open to a wide variety of proposals... specifically we
are interested in the following:
1.
Practitioners and theoreticians who would like a chance to show
and discuss their work
2.
Submissions for interactive installations that would be installed
in a party/dance-floor area
3.
Art installations that have relevance to the aforementioned
subject matter
We will respond to all of you, although it may take us a little
while. Anybody who would like to submit physical copies of their
demos should contact us for a mailing address.
Thanks,
Tony Schultz and Sam Jackson
