such good responses and proposals,,  it is great to see people writing and 
posting.

I will come back to some of the remarks that have been made to debate the 
ideas, and the very interesting question posed by Sarah Jane Pell about our 
"terms of engagement."  but am packing to travel to Istanbul, and maybe will 
meet some of you there in the flesh,  there are performances and intensive 
workshops, please see below.

amber'07 festival

As the largest event in the field of Arts and Technology to be held in Turkey, 
amber'07 will take place from 9-17 November, 2007 in a variety of exhibition 
and performance venues in Istanbul. Please visit festival site for detailed

The festival aims to create an opportunity for exchange and cooperation amongst 
the multidisciplinary group of participants, all of whom work and produce at 
the intersections of digital technologies and artistic practice. The festival 
will feature the works of 30 artists. The festival program, which consists of 
stage performances, interactive installations, workshops and seminars has been 
shaped around the theme of "voice and survival in an age of technology". 
amber'07 will feature works and discussions that take up the condition and 
transformations of "voice" in an age of high technology, works that question 
our ongoing relation with an ever developing and influental technology.

The works that will be featured in amber'07 include sensors, movement detectors 
and special software. Their logic differs from the conventional art-viewer 
relationship based on a passive gaze and/or active interpretation as they make 
the bodily and mental participation of the viewer in the artwork a condition 
for the latter's completion. Therefore, the viewer becomes an actual 
constituent of the singular experience of the artwork.

The festival aims to appeal to any artist who is interested in technology as an 
aesthetic tool, to technology professionals such as software designers and 
engineers, students, children and all those who can or cannot use technology in 
their everyday lives.

sensrler, hareket alg?lama cihazlar? ve zel yaz?l?mlar ieren sanat eserine 
bedensel olarak kat?lmas?n? ve eserin bu sekilde olusmas?n? ngryor. Bylelikle, 
izleyici sanat eserinin tekil deneyiminin olus¸turucu bir paras? haline geliyor.
Festival teknolojiyle estetik olarak ilgilenen her disiplinden sanat?ya, 
yenilik arayan sanatseverlere, yaz?l?m, robotik vb. alanlardan gelen teknoloji 
profesyonellerine, g<breve>rencilere, ocuklara, gndelik hayat?nda teknolojiyi 
kullanan veya kullanamayan herkese hitap etmeyi amal?yor.
