[dance-tech] Troika Ranch: Workshop/Provocation : Berlin : June 19th

It's been ages since I've posted here, so I hope this finds you all well. I'm facilitating a little experiment in Berlin on June 19th. This will be Troika Ranch's first "happening" in Berlin, anticipating our planned move there later this year. So I'm excited to participate in this evening of improvised video and dance, I hope some of you can attend.

Media Artist Mark Coniglio will lead a two day workshop-experience for contact improvisers and video artists called "Strange Loops". The purpose of the workshop will be to explore a series of provocations concerning the interaction between movement and projected video images, using the notion of loops as a thematic link between the two.
The task of the video artist will be to use live, mediated video projections to expose the performer, to burrow under his or her skin and expose the physical, neuro-kinetic or psychological forces driving the movement. In response, the performers will use this visual revelation to define their next action and/or interaction with performers around them, thus subtlety or radically changing the video dissection of their inner being as presented on screen. In this way, as the image influences body, and body influences image, a chaotic interactive dialogue will result; a "Strange Loop" based on interpretation, re-interpretation, and unexpected meaning.
The workshops will take place at 103 Studios [Falkensteinstr. 47 - Berlin Kreuzberg] on June 12 and 13 starting at 21:00. Beamers and space will be provided by 103 Studios; other equipment (e.g., laptops, software) is the responsibility of the artist. Those who have taken part in the workshop will informally present the findings of their research at 103 Studios as part the monthly "Dance on Screens" event on June 14th.

?Strange Loops" ist der Titel eines Workshops, den der Medienkünstler Mark Coniglio zwei Tage lang als Contact Improvisation für Tänzer und Videokünstler anbieten wird. Das Ziel des Workshops wird es sein, die Interaktionen von Bewegung und projezierten Videobildern zu erforschen. Die Idee von "Loops" (Wiederholungen) soll thematische Verbindung zwischen beiden Elementen sein. 
Die Videokünstler werden die Aufgabe haben, die Performer durch
Live-Projektionen zu sezieren: sich unter ihre Haut zu graben, um die
physikalischen, neuro-kinetischen oder psychologischen Kräfte bloßzulegen, die ihre Bewegung bestimmen. Das visuelle Erlebnis soll die Performer inspirieren und ihre nächste Aktion und/oder Interaktion mit anderen Performern charakterisieren. Auf subtile oder radikale Weise werden die Performer die Zerlegung ihres Inneren auf den Screens nach und nach verändern. Das Bild beeinflusst den Körper und der Körper das Bild - so entsteht ein chaotischer interaktiver Dialog, ein ?Strange Loop", gegründet auf Interpretation, Gegen-Interpretation und unerwarteter Bedeutung. 

Der Workshop findet am 12. und 13. Juni jeweils ab 21:00 Uhr im
103Studio [Falkensteinstr. 47 - Berlin Kreuzberg] statt. Beamer und
Räume werden vom 103Studio zur Verfügung gestellt; für die weitere
Ausstattung (z.B. Laptops, Software) ist jeder Künstler selbst
verantwortlich. Im Rahmen des monatlichen ?Dance on Screens" im
103Studio werden die Teilnehmer des Workshops die Ergebnisse ihrer Forschungen am 14. Juni formlos präsentieren.
