Free public opening-symposium Interactive Dance Film workshop

As a kick-off for the Interactive Dance Film workshop, Mediamatic and Cinedans festival host two public opening lectures by outstanding international media artists who integrate interactive media and film with dance performances.
Showing their projects and sharing their insights and experiences will be:


Chris Ziegler is media-artist and director, connected to the ZKM in Karlsruhe since 1994 in the areas of multimedia and stage production. Ziegler develops interactive sound and light installations for dance- and other live performances including ?Forest?, ?Scanned I-V? and ?Turned?. Awarded the grant prize of ?Young Art and New Media? in 2001, his works are noted all over the world. Ziegler will discuss his research in the use of light and shadow and moving images in live performances. His personal webpage can be found at http://www.movingimages.de/

Evann Siebens is producer, director and videographer of dance film. Siebens filmed dancers and their performances, including Mikhail Baryshnikov, Bill T. Jones and Lucinda Childs. Former dancer with the National Ballet of Canada and the Bonn Ballet, Evann now devotes her time to (interactive) dance film in all its forms. Her films and documentaries have been screened with much acclaim at numerous film festivals worldwide.

Free public final presenation Interactive Dance Film workshop
Friday, July 1st, 14:00 PM | de Balie, Kleine-Gartmanplantsoen 10, Amsterdam

After 5 days of intense work, the Interactive Dance Film workshop will be closed off with an open-for-all final presentation. The participants will showcase their own interactive dance films and installations and share their experiences.

Entrance is free!
Some informal drinks afterwards will guarantee a pleasant afternoon.
