I just realised some of my earlier responses only didn't go to the
entire list, so I'm re-posting this in the hope that somebody will
find it useful.

We are doing a 2-year research project called TeDance
(Tecnologically Expanded Dance) at the Tecnical University of
Lisbon (UTL) in 2006/07.
We have just started to find out about existing Motion Capture
archives, both commercial and noncommercial.
Does someone know about existing archives/Motion Capture projects
aiming at the creation of archives that can be used/converted
across platforms and different software?
For free, non-commercial movement data, you should take a look at
Motek's Stockmoves. You can download the data in various formats or
just download Motek's converter to put the data in whichever format
you want:

Animazoo also has a new collection of free bvh files, but I haven't
had the chance to take a look at any of them:

For commercial data, you can buy Credo software's "MeGa MoCap"
library for $299 or purchase individual bundles from Credo or
TurboSquid.

If you find more sources, can you please share them with the rest
of the list?
