Let's assume that all outgoing email will NOT pass through ASSP. How does this change it's effectiveness? Is it a bad idea to do this?
Not sure that webmail has to bypass assp but anyway.....The bayesian side of assp just like any bayesian system (Spamassassin etc) needs to be fed. If not via mail passing through assp then you need to get samples into spam and nospam to create good stats. Of course there is plenty of other antispam things in assp over and above bayesian stats.
By bypassing assp always, your clients end up not being able to use the email interface and you have to copy data every now and again if you want to maintain bayesian stats. Of course you could create a specail domain for your users to send to and you could
client -> exchange -> 25 -> assp or something equivalent.
