Environmental Educator
The Stanley Park Ecology Society (SPES) is a community-based
not-for-profit organization dedicated to = encouraging stewardship of
our natural world
through environmental education = and action. SPES is seeking a highly
motivated individual to assist = in the delivery of innovative
curriculum-based school programs = in the Park and in classrooms. Working
out of the Dining Pavilion in = Stanley Park and reporting to the School
Programs Manager, this person = will play a key role in furthering the
profile and mission of the = society.
Duties:
. Lead nature education programs = for elementary schools, community
groups and the public. . Book school = and community group programs and
carry out associated administration. . = Participate in creative
development of curriculum-based environmental = education programs. .
Maintain and design program materials and = equipment. . Assist in the
promotion of programs and other duties as = needed.
Qualifications:
. Degree or diploma in = biology/environmental studies or equivalent
knowledge of BC ecology. . = Experience working with groups of children.
. Excellent leadership, = teamwork and communication skills. .
Willingness to work outdoors, rain = or shine. . Experience in outdoor
education or nature interpretation. . = Proficiency with IBM computers.
. First Aid = certification, BC driver's license and criminal
record check = required.
Note: Funding for the = position may be under a targeted wage subsidy:
Although not a = requirement, priority may be given to Individuals under
30 years of = age. Please indicate this in your cover letter, as well
as if you = have been out of school a minimum of three months, are
unemployed or = underemployed, and whether or not you have been in
receipt of Employment = Insurance within the past 36 months.
Hours: 30 hours per = week Start Date: Sept. 6 /05
Duration: September = through June 2006, with possibility of extension
