JOB POSTING
Environmental Public Program Developer
The Stanley Park Ecology Society (SPES) is a community-based = not-for-profit organization dedicated to encouraging stewardship of our natural world through environmental education and action. SPES is seeking a highly motivated individual to develop specific new public = program opportunities to support its mission of connecting people with nature. Working out of offices in the upper Dining Pavilion in Stanley Park, this person will play a key role in furthering the operations of = the society.
Duties:
· Research and develop new public programs based on environmental
stewardship, public demand and seasonal themes.
· Involve community partners in collaboration in determining content of
new programs
· Document the program content so that the programs can be effectively
delivered by other staff
· Create and print supporting materials for programs
· Review evaluation records for existing programs
· Identify programs that require updating.
· Collect information and materials to update existing programs
Qualifications:
· solid background in biology/environmental studies or equivalent
knowledge of BC ecology.
· Experience in outdoor education or nature interpretation.
· Experience working with groups of children as asset.
· Excellent leadership, teamwork and communication skills.
· Willingness to work outdoors, rain or shine
a.. Proficiency with PCs: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Pagemaker. = Experience with Illustrator an asset.
b.. This is a Job Creation Partnership program; participants must be = currently on EI or have been in receipt of EI within the past 36 months
Note: Since this is an EI Program; maximum compensation us $413/week;
Employment is taxable but not Insurable for future EI support.
Hours: 35 hours per week Start Date: October /05
Duration: 20 weeks: October, 2005 - February, 2006
