To Members of CSEB
Does anyone know if work is being undertaken on 1) the impact the West
Nile virus could have on corvid (crows, ravens, jays) populations or 2)
looking at distribution and movement patterns in relation to the spread
of the virus to humans. It's my feeling that this could be an important
issue. A potential issue that comes to mind and which we want to be
prepared to guard against, is culling as a control measure.
If it's not being done already, is there any interest in putting
together an advisory group from within CSEB to approach Health Canada
and other agencies and to prepare some sort of fact sheet and overview
on the implications to wildlife (corvids and other species) of this
growing problem?
