[cseb national] CSEB Involvement in the Oilsands, your input requested!

Greetings, CSEB members!

Secure energy supply?. Canadian jobs?. Booming economy?. Money, money,
money?.

Acidifying emissions?.Global warming?. Massive open pit mines?. Massive
tailings ponds?. Massive water needs?. Massive, massive, massive?.

These phrases are often associated with Alberta¹s rapidly expanding oil
sands industry near Fort McMurray. The potential environmental impacts of
this massive development are considerable.

The CSEB is preparing a written submission for the public consultations on
oil sands development currently underway in Alberta. Led by Saskatchewan
chapter chair, Joseph Hnatiuk, a short paper is being developed to highlight
the concerns of environmental biologists. The deadline for submissions is
April 24, 2007. Public meetings are also being held to receive oral
presentations. Information about these oil sands public consultations are
available at http://www.oilsandsconsultations.gov.ab.ca/. Check it out!

If you are interested in providing input to the CSEB paper, please contact
Joe Hnatiuk at hnaj@xxxxxxxxxxx

LET¹S MAKE A DIFFERENCE !!

Sincerely,

CSEB Members:

Joseph Hnatiuk
