Greetings, CSEB members and friends on our CSEB Listserv!
I have been very pleased with the progress made in organizing our
annual conference in Vancouver, scheduled for November 13-14 at the BC
Institute of Technology. Special thanks to BC Director Jim Armstrong
for spearheading this initiative.
The conference is called "Municipal Waste Management: Environmental
Challenges and Successes". It features some excellent speakers talking
about many important issues, including waste-to-energy plans, landfill
operations, large-scale composting and others. A tour of the Burnaby
Waste-to-Energy plant is included. The CSEB's annual general meeting
will also be held at this event. Check out the brochure, agenda and
other information at http://www.cseb-scbe.org/page39/page39.html[1] At
a cost of $75. for registration ($25 for students), it's a real bargain!
The conference is only one week away and delegate registration has
been _very_ limited to date. Knowing that some members are waiting
until the proverbial "last minute" to decide or are planning to
register at the conference in person next Thursday, I want to ask that
you take a minute to confirm your intention to join us. Please send an
email to jim.armstrong@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx[2] (and cc: me at
bfree@xxxxxxxxxxxxx[3]) indicating your interest by 9AM Pacific Time
on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 7. By noon, we'll be making a decision to proceed
with or to cancel the conference!
Thanks for your consideration! And I hope to see many of you next
week in Vancouver!

Canadian Society of Environmental Biologists
