[cseb national] COSEWIC REPORT BIDS

Here is an announcement forwarded to CSEB from COSEWIC. Pat Stewart, CSEB Atlantic Director

Dear all:

The Winter 2008 Call for Bids for the preparation of status reports is now posted on the COSEWIC website. The posting date is 21 January - 15 February 2008.

http://www.cosewic.gc.ca/

The Call for Bids for status reports features 54 species:
-15 candidate species that were chosen by COSEWIC at Duchesnay, Quebec in April 2007.
   -39 required update reports
The possible need for contractors to attend Recovery Team meetings has been identified for one vascular plant to date. This was the result of a poll of all recovery team chairs earlier this winter, to determine the need for attendance, and specifically, whether information could be discussed at a recovery team meeting that would be difficult for a contractor to obtain if he / she were not in attendance. Co-Chairs have been copied on any correspondence to Recovery Team Chairs and therefore Co-Chairs will decide, once the winning bidders have been selected, whether to negotiate this into the contract or not (with appropriate funding to cover travel costs).

Please note there will be another Call for Bids very soon for a special project to develop a prioritized candidate species list of terrestrial molluscs of Ontario and Quebec, with emphasis on species of the COSEWIC Great Lakes Plains National Ecological Area. Please stay tuned for this posting.

I would ask that you communicate this Call for Bids widely. Thanks to all of you for your input and help with this Call!

Best regards,
Jeff
