Brownfields Labour Market Study
In Ontario, the Environmental Protection Act requires that Qualified
Persons take responsibility for filing Records of Site Condition for
brownfield sites. The current regulatory requirements for Qualified
Persons are temporary and are scheduled to sunset on October 1, 2006.
In anticipation of this date, the Ministry of the Environment is
undertaking a review of the existing requirements.
To support this policy review, the Ministry is undertaking a survey
of environmental site assessment and risk assessment professionals. The
main objective of the survey is to characterize this field of
practitioners, producing much needed information on the number and
distribution of practitioners in Ontario, their qualifications, and the
volume and specific type of work they are conducting. Results from the
survey will help the Ministry to conduct an objective review of the
current requirements for Qualified Persons.
The survey is being conducted by RMI Group on behalf of the Ministry.
If you are a practitioner who supervises or has responsibility for
Phase I or Phase II Environmental Site Assessments or risk assessments
and would like to participate in the survey, please send your contact
information (i.e., name and business email address) by February 24,
2006 to brownfields@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx with “include me” as the
subject line. Any questions about the survey may also be sent to this
email address.
