Zachary (a social worker and CSEW supporter) sent this on, and since we're
still trying to get him on our list serve (sigh), I said I would send it
along.  Zac, as you might know, works with one of the NGOs that works in
after school programs with students in Red Hook.

He's doing a program on Mumia for students on Saturday.  Would anyone be
able to go with him?  I will try to, as well.

Here's Zac's note,(slightly abbreviated)  and he'd appreciate any comments.

I have attached the flyer for the event this Saturday. Basically, I am
hosting the film: *Long Distance Revolutionary: A Journey with Mumia
Abu-Jamal *this Saturday at the Red Hook Public Library. Since the Public
Library discourages any political stance I will be presenting the film as a
celebration for Black History Month. However, I was informed that it would
be okay to bring IG/IC literature on Mumia. I know there is a whole section
on the IG website for Mumia. Which articles do you think would be best?
There will be a discussion afterwards and I think this is when participants
can be engaged about getting more involved in IG/IC activities.

I will also be doing a brief introduction to the film. I want to make sure
to connect Mumia's struggle to current issues like the Muslim ban, and the
police shootings of black men and women (Trayvon Martin, Michael Brown,
Sandra Bland, and others). Another point I want to highlight during the
introduction is the definition of the state......

[further elaboration]
