Subject: leiderman: failed-food dept: empty stomachs = empty governance

Once you get past the mixed metaphor in the headline at
http://www.irinnews.org/special-report/2017/03/07/failed-policies-haiti-fuel-post-hurricane-food-crisis
the realization is that it is a very big deal for this special report
about Haiti and food insecurity to have appeared internationally this
week, per attached.

It is one thing to write about Haiti in the same old way, as newspaper
copy writers do when preparing obituaries in advance of demises, but this
is from a duo that is new to me in Haiti-reporting circles.  Instead, they
are Latin American specialists, thus looking at Haiti in the context of
witnessing the trajectory of failed states all over half of the Western
Hemisphere.  And because the subject is food, the danger signs they report
are gut-wrenching, literally.  I recommend reading, talking about it and
passing it around.
