Thanks Russ. I am using a fax machine for receiving and winfax for sending. Thought I could get rid of the fax machine and free up some space. It would appear that the best I can achieve with modem receiving is set it to only receive after a certain number of rings, like 5. I had it set up like that before and found it annoying. I think I'll just stick with the fax machine to receive for now. Yeah they still make them, my Bogen Friday does that and there are telephoneswitching devices made by a number of companies that do the same, although most people just use a fax machine as they arent very expensive and wil answer on distinctive ring patterns. I have to look Murray and see what is out there. Phonetools by BVRP should still be available for use with a modem or bundled with and it does the trick.Been since 2001 when we got our HP Officejet G85 that is still running like new (it gets a checkup from the inhouse printer doc once a year, of course)and it handles everything I need.
