One thing XP will do too, not sure if Win 2000 supports it, maybe option is
disabled. Remember last user logged in and the last person who's logged in
UID appears in the user name box.

Come to think of it, when we had 2000 installed at work, we had to each
manually type the username in. Just thought it would make sense to have a
drop-down choice there, but not a huge inconvenience having to type the
username in I guess. Thanks for the reply Eric

Hello Terry,

It has been a long time since I used 2000. None that I am aware of. XP has
family login screen, Vista has something similar. 2000 was more for
businesses then, still some compatibility issues and 9x, ME was king in the
consumer market. First PC in household that could not run Windows 2000 it
was a Packard Bell. I heard others had issues with this brand and others.

My suggestion is to install XP SP2, set the theme to the 2000 like theme,
turn off the fades and stuff, disable the theme service. Use Black Viper
website to disable un needed services, use WinPatrol to keep the stuff in
memory down and XP might work out pretty good.

Another option is OpenSuse 11 or Ubuntu with OpenOffice. All free.

Thank you,

Eric Vogel

Subject: [CTS] Windows 2000 user profiles

I've just setup a 2nd user profile on a Windows 2000. Surprisingly during
login, each user must type their name in - there is no drop-down choice. Is
this normal? Can I somehow make it work with a drop-down user selection on
the login screen?

Thanks,
Terry
