AJAX is a buzzword, of course. Everything's gotta be "AJAX" or it's just not
cool. It's also very often mis-used, since it's not all that common that the
X (XML) is actually used. Probably better to get a real grasp of the actual
requirements of the application.
If you're going to get into RIA (rich internet applications) these days, don't
code from scratch -- use a pre-built toolkit. I like Dojo: dojotoolkit.org.
