As far as whether or not you should, if you have a good amount of ram
(256 is the absolute minimum...I've run it in 128, and it's not
pretty) and a decent processor (300+ mhz), I'd upgrade.
Until we upgraded to 2x2.5ghz/1gb/160gb G5s last year at work, the
system I used most often was a 350mhz/320mb system. I couldn't tell
its specs were so low (relative to the x86 world).

G3 or better and also some PPCs will work with the MacOS X although they
state G3 or better. The 75 mhz PPC ought to work nicely with the PPC release
of Ubuntu/Kubuntu.

I assume you mean "G3 or better"? I have an older system that's a
PowerPC -- 75mhz. Something tells me, other than the fact that I know
the minimum requirement is a G3, that it's not going to boot up in
there if I grab the CDs from work and try to install. ;)
