Thanks Hal!

All sound like great suggestions and cautions. I'm gonna look for the "Popman"
program. Spam is just soooo out of control anymore. I'd like to round up all
the spammers and set their toes on fire.. but then, that's just me! :)

Just a word of caution about bouncing email. Take it for what its worth. I
don't mean to tell anyone how to use email, or take away from... you get the
idea.

* You could be telling the spammer that you exist. The header info may be
intact from you.

* You may be acting as a reflector for the spammer. Perhaps the email
originated from some ordinary user (zombie) before it got to you, and you are
really bouncing back to him/her.

* About %90 (I think) of the time the from header is forged, so it may be
simply a waste of time.

* Some spammers look for bounced messages to verify addresses.

* Some ISPs frown on bounced messages.

Personally, (plug for John <BG>) I use Linux for email and the Internet. I use
Kmail, and it has built in bouncing. Having bounced a few messages over a
long period of time I don't see any difference in the amount of spam I get.

For Windows I suggest having a look at Popman. It allows you to see messages
on the mail server before you download them, and therefore delete what you
don't want before it gets to your computer. You can delete a mess of trouble
this way. It's a free program, and can be found easily with Google.

I also use negative filtering. I set up a mailbox - call it anything, mine is
"Main". Filter all incoming that you want to go to that mailbox, and leave
the inbox for spam. This also makes it easier to wipe out spam in a hurry.

Again, just my thoughts about it.
