Hi List.
You all seem to be having trouble with the Christmas presents. Me Too.
Could anyone tell me how to find a patch for Win 95 (at the Microsoft
netsite) that would allow me to run a scanner through my usb port. I have a
Win95 cd with usb support but an error message tells me that it won't
install because I don't already have the B version. I have the A version. I
don't want to go to Win98 yet as I understand that Win 2000 is about to be
released and I would like to save up for that. I have looked at the
Microsoft.com site but cant seem to pick the right patch.
Problem 2. a card that Santa brought/bought that will allow me to tune my
monitor into the Tv aerial, needs to be installed in a PCI slot. My
computer Compaq Deskpro 2000 seems to have 2 types of slots; the ones where
my sound card is installed eg,and on the same side, situated between two of
those slots, there are two white, smaller width slots. On the other side
are a few of these white slots but no "sound-card" type slots. The width
seems to be just right for the new card to fit. It can only fit on this
side as it is "right-handed". However it would need a little surgery to be
done on the metallic support surrounds to fit it in. This seems no major
problem.
Am I correct in thinking there are 2 types of slots and have I picked out
the right one. I am loathe to take the hacksaw to the metal support until I
am sure of where it is supposed to go
Hope someone can interpret my very basic "computer speak"
Philip. TIA
