[COMP] Scsi Vs. Ide Hard-drives!

Hi ...Can someone explain the pros/cons and what exactly are Scsi vs. Ide 
hard drives?  I have an option if I configure my own pc to get either one.  I 
have NO idea what the difference is and what each ones advantages or 
disadvantages are.  Also..the same pertaining to PCI Win modems as opposed to 
Fax Controller modems.  I had a bad time with a pci modem a while back, so I 
hesitate to have a PCI modem installed.
