Personally, I wouldn't do anything w/it until i was sure I had everything off
of it that I wanted to keep, and had another drive ready to go in it's place.
Add the new drive as a slave, copy your files you want to keep to it, then
pull the cable on the old one, set the new one as master, get the new drive
set up just like you want it (as though it were going to be your only drive)
The reason being, if you wipe the current drive before you're sure
everything's gonna work on the new one, then you're there w/no working pc.
You've dumped the working drive, and haven't yet set up the new one. I
prefer not to let one working setup go, until I have one that I'm sure is
ready to take it's place, but that's just a blonde thing I think. Anyway,
after you're sure the new drive is up and running, pull the cable from it,
attach the cable to the old drive, leave it as master, all by itself (so you
don't have two drives in there, both set up as primary w/98 on them) , then
wipe it (it being the original drive) When you're through, put the new drive
that you've already set up back in as master, make the original drive (now
empty) slave to the new drive that's already set up and ready to go. If I'm
not mistaken, the whole reason for the new drive is because the existing
drive had some bad blocks or something? I wouldn't use it as my primary, but
should be fine as a secondary.
Good Luck!
