you are right but

but i am sure that protocol is open for public since Microsoft wants to make
it compatible with AOL Messenger (which infact they did some time ago, but
AOL rocks them back by changing Messenger protocol).

i got its code though , but it is for linux including code for Yahoo
Messenger, ICQ, Lazzard, AOL Messenger.
its very difficult o go through it
you can implement it easily from scratch rather then understanding it.
