I've had this problem before: it's a problem with LILO, the linux boot
loader. If the kernel is on a partition that starts beyond the first
1023 cylinders of the disk, lilo sometimes has trouble booting it.
There are a couple solutions: one, add the option 'linear' to
/etc/lilo.conf (you'll have to boot with a boot disk, and pass the
kernel root=/dev/hdX (where X is your drive)). Using this option didn't
solve the problem for me, but it might for you. Generally, I create a
small (10 meg) partition right at the beginning of the drive to hold the
kernel, and mount that on /boot. I suspect Corel will not be so
flexible with its installer. That's the second option, but there may be
more. I'd consult Corel's help docs on this, because it's a very
well-known problem with lilo.
