Looks like more fun w/Microsoft.  :)

In a pinch, you might try installing the newest version of IE.
YMMV, but I've noticed the hdd likes to thrash the same as win98
upon boot when installing newer (5+) versions of IE on win95 systems.

Could be a registry setting, though.  ouch.
