John >> thanks, it is the vid card- the monitor in question is on this pent machine now :) but on bootup the screen resolution was wierd- even the post screen was large- like when you reinstall windows the first thing you see is the default standard vga driver using 16 colors rather than the 600x800 @16million setting that I usually use... which reminds me to look up that setup switch stuff that Dennis posted to your web site and CTS...I think its setup /Pv ? the switch is supposed to run setup without losing settings or preferances... Its all good now- can a bad cpu or shorted mobo permanently hurt a monitor?
