Degausing removes static from the CRT of the monitor.  Your monitor should
have a button on the front for it, or something through the on screen
display (which does you no good if th monitor doesn't come on, eh? :() I'm
not sure, but I don't think degausing would fix your problem-- it sounds
like it's shot. :(

Are you sure it isn't the video card?  Have you tried another monitor on
that machine?
