yeah, could be that i didnt compile it in, however i compiled the kernel to be
able to use other modules too, so i'll search for it. it's a 3Com EtherLink XL
TPO btw (utp only). not smth you'll see every day. I guess 3com doesnt have
drivers for it?

i'll look into it. by mirrors, do you mean of my debian distro or such things as
freshmeat?

c'mon john! you can do better than that :-)
to make it worse: the realtek networkcard in this machine has also io-ports in
this range. now i know this machine is full (every slot and every ide-space is
taken), could that be it?
