They shouldn't be coming up in your console at all... STDERR should be
routed to /var/log/syslog by ... hmm.. syslogd? Make sure that's
running... ICMP (Internet Control MEssage protocol) is a method of
sending IP packets back and fourth between a host and a router (gateway)
as a means of error-reporting. Perhaps it means you've got a bad nic?
