Hi,

ya, you are very correct..that is why I'm searching for a
more 'bulletproof' set of scripts for various types of everything.

if you run a safelist- which is one thing that you can be SURE
everyother online marketer will be at least interested in enough
to give you a cursory look at...your hoping they will add your
safelist to the growing list of programs that they cannot hope to
manage...

I'm trying to come up with a safelist that has the following
qualities- difficult to steal the list of addresses

Some way of ensuring each and every post has remove
instructions like majordomo has. also how to post your
own ad- I don't mind getting subbed but if I cant post my
own ad back then I feel I've been taken advantage of.
I have to hunt down the list at egroups or globelist and
either sub to a different web mail acct or unsub altogether.
Or change the list settings to 'Read on Web' so I can get
the use of my web mail inbox back. Safelists over a 100
members send so much mail the inbox is then not useful for
anything else as there is no more room.

A way to prevent a list subber from sending more than 2
ads a day.

Someway of preventing a spammer to sub people via ffa post
without their permission. Listbot has a 'you must respond to
this email to activate your subscription' which is cool, but when
you get one of those it doesn't say which ezine/list your
activating?

Some way of making it difficult to enforce that list subscribers
at least have to have their mail go to the mailbox they subbed with.
As opposed to 'read on the web' like egroups, globelist ect.

I know you cannot force them to read each one and if the list is
even a little bit large it gets unwieldy very fast.

many, legitimate safelists have been broken into by spammers
the spammer violates the thin security and steals the list.
the legitimate program gets its domain shut down by the
spam nazis. your guilty with zero opportunity to defend yourself.
AOL wants to put you out of business- they want to be the only
spammer in town and they have the clout to do it.
Ominous when you think they now own Roadrunner.

Geez, I just woke up and I'm not doing a very good job of being
coherent...its real easy to accidentally spam by making a honest
mistake. And I'm being as ethical as I can be...
I see many, many newbie marketers who barely know how to
run winzip or get a template web page setup...
these people don't know about bcc, they wouldn't spam if they
knew x, y or z was spam...they have no idea what the email they
send is going to display as and get into legal trouble almost
immediately

| I see no reason why you couldn't start a commercial list. But I think the
| line between a "commercial list" and a "SPAM list" is thin, and that sort
| of thing certainly won't be tolerated.
