Hola, teniendo en cuenta que buena parte de la población migrante,
particularmente mujeres, se desempeñan como trabajadores migrantes, esta
noticia es de interés general. Ojalá quienes se mueven en el campo de la acción
social contribuyeran a la campaña por la ratificación de este convenio de la
OIT, así como de los convenios 97 y 143 sobre trabajadores migrantes.

Migrant Forum in Asia (MFA) who has been a leader in the campaign for the

Dear Friends,
Hope all goes well. We are pleased to announce to you that Uruguay has
recently ratified ILO Convention 189 (C189) on domestic work.

Two countries need to ratify the Convention for it to come into force.
We hope that the Philippines will hold the distinction of being the
second State Party to ratify C189. Currently the Philippine Department
of Foreign affairs is processing the ratification through its Office
of United Nations and other International Organizations (UNIO) and
Office of the Legal Affairs (OLA). The endorsement for ratification
will be sent to the
Secretary of Foreign Affairs this week and hopefully for endorsement
to the Office of the President. Once the president the ratification it
will be passed to the Senate for the 2/3 concurrence vote.
