Dear friends and colleagues of the Coastal Rainforest Margins Research
Network,
I am happy to announce the online release of our first manuscript
describing DOC flux from small coastal watersheds in the perhumid outer
coast of the coastal temperate rainforest. This work is part of the Hakai
Institute's Kwakshua Watersheds Program and has been an massive
collaborative effort over the past ~5 years involving the participation and
support of many people. The paper is currently in review for Biogeosciences
and can be found online as a discussion paper here: http://www.

For those of you unfamiliar with Biogeosciences, the review process for
this journal is an interactive public peer review. Submitted manuscripts
are first published online as a "discussion paper" as a means to provide a
transparent review process and encourage opportunities for discussion
across a larger group of scientists. This means that anyone has the
opportunity to comment on the article and initiate discussions prior to
it's acceptance as a publication. We are distributing the discussion
article to the CRMCN to foster online discussion and give people the
opportunity to provide comments they feel we should address to better the
paper. We will be doing a more extensive public campaign to announce the
research once the final manuscript is accepted for publication.
