I learned that telnet was created to help administrators manage and monitor workstations and servers from a remote location. Telnet uses unencrypted packets to connect to remote pcs and receive info back. Once you connect to a valid port you may uses commands to find out information about that port. http://www.moorer-software.com/telnet.htm I practiced at telnet://140.147.254.3 I have to say that I was very frustrated because at first I kept typing in commands and nothing came up. I then typed a command and pressed enter and the command occurred. I learned that telnet takes time, patience , and practice and a general knowledge of it.
