I also agree that the telnet is not all that appealing. I think that it
might have been at one time, in it's day, but definitely now, it is way out
of date. There is a good reason that it is not widely used.

toaccess a remote computer. After connecting using Telnet and logging in,
youhave access the systems functions and files. I was suprised to read that
unlike FTP, Telnet does not allow the ransfering of files to your computer.

Iconnect via Telnet to the IPAC Extragalctic Database
(telnet://134.4.10.106). Connecting to a text-based system made me really
appreciate the Web. Navigation was clumsy and not esthetically appealing.
