Telnet is a protocol that allows you to access a remote computer. After connecting using Telnet and logging in, you have access the systems functions and files. I was suprised to read that unlike FTP, Telnet does not allow the ransfering of files to your computer. For more information see http://www.infoboard.com/infoboard/telnethelp.htm. I connect via Telnet to the IPAC Extragalctic Database (telnet://134.4.10.106). Connecting to a text-based system made me really appreciate the Web. Navigation was clumsy and not esthetically appealing. Todd D.Stott
