[citw150] CITW 150: Lesson 4, Question 6

Telnet (short for TELecommunications NETwork) is as protocol intended to be
used as a remote login service. The telnet program connects you computer to a
server on a network (such as the Internet) and allows you to enter text
commands that are then executed on the server console as if you were at that
console. (From: http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/T/Telnet.html)

Quite some time ago, I used Telnet to MUD (a form of gaming) on a site called
TimeWarp. The concept behind it is that you enter text commands that make your
character move, fight, and interact with the ?world?. Each type of command has
MANY different options. For instance, under interaction is a category called
?social poses?. By typing a single word, a sentence or so of text is
automatically sent. An example of that might me typing ?groan? when your
character (Cicel) is looking at another character (Endar) and the following
comes up: ?Cicel groans pitifully at Endar?s horrible joke.?

All thing being equal, the simplest answer is usually true.
There is nothing as deceptive as an obvious fact.
