Don't feel bad, I found Telnet confusing at first too, but then I played around
and got the hang of it.
If you get time, try this:
telnet.ncf.carleton.ca login: guest
This is a real simple session and it has some pretty neat newsgroups, too.

I found Telnet to be confusing but what I got from it, is that it is a protocal
that allows you to connect to a remote computer and give it commands. I found
