Good job Tim. What made you choose that site?

  Telnet

I first went to the web site webopedia at
http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/T/Telnet.htm
  I found this definition there..

(tel´net) (n.) A terminal emulation program for TCP/IP networks such as the
Internet. The Telnet program runs on your computer and connects your PC to a
server on the network. You can then enter commands through the Telnet program
and they will be executed as if you were entering them directly on the server
console. This enables you to control the server and communicate with other
servers on the network. To start a Telnet session, you must log in to a server
by entering a valid username and password. Telnet is a common way to remotely
control Web servers.

Which was somewhat helpful, I then went looking for a tutorial at Yahoo?s
site and really was not impressed at all. It was then I went to
http://www.techtutorials.info/sertelnet.html then I was impressed! This is a
good web site, set up to help people learn rather than just to sell products.
I read about Telnet and Basic Commands, TELNET Protocol Overview, and The
Telnet Protocol.

Next I went to Material Magica and made up a character for the game at
  http://iota.materiamagica.com/start/moongate/index.php I remember playing
games like this back at the university! They were great back then, but
compared to what is out there now they don?t hold a candle. Just something
simple like moving around the map or combat takes way too long and way too much
typing for my taste. I learned that what I remembered about telnet games is
far better than actually playing them.
