Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA)

The Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) is a non-profit international
organization of internet leaders purposes toward making the internet safer for
children. They also respect the rights of content providers. Their approach
toward protecting children online is giving families the tools to control their
online experience. ICRA filters allow families to match their online experience
with their values

ICRA does not rate internet content this is done by the content providers
through a checklist is used in verifying the type of content on a particular
site. Some of the main topics covered are:

The nudity and sexual content of a site
The violence depicted on the site
The language used on the site
   Chat facilities
Other topics such as gambling, drugs and alcohol.

Each of these areas requires further questions. The responses to this checklist
then generate a short piece of computer code known as an ICRA label which the
webmaster will add to their site.
