Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) The Internet Content Rating Association (ICRA) is a non-profit international organization of internet leaders purposes toward making the internet safer for children. They also respect the rights of content providers. Their approach toward protecting children online is giving families the tools to control their online experience. ICRA filters allow families to match their online experience with their values ICRA does not rate internet content this is done by the content providers through a checklist is used in verifying the type of content on a particular site. Some of the main topics covered are: The nudity and sexual content of a site The violence depicted on the site The language used on the site Chat facilities Other topics such as gambling, drugs and alcohol. Each of these areas requires further questions. The responses to this checklist then generate a short piece of computer code known as an ICRA label which the webmaster will add to their site.
