[citw150] Re: CITW 150 L3 Q5

You know I almost decided to use this subject myself. This is one area that
seems like the government needs to step in, not only besides the fact that you
get so irratated just having to delete these all the time but it also makes you
hesitant to open other e-mails that could be something important or useful.
These e-mails are also the cause of many people going through almost a
complete identity change because of there previous one being stolen.

chapter 25 I found interesting was the act of "phishing." Phishing involves
someone sending out a fake message or being redirected to a fake web page that
gathers sensitive information, such as credit card numbers and account numbers.
It is fairly common to see these types of messages, as I have seen them in my
e-mail several times, and even on such heavy traffic places as myspace. It is
very important to never reveal sensitive information to an unknown source
claiming to be professional or legit. The main problem with these "phishing"
messages is I have seen several that look very legitimate, and through the use
of cookies, can even include things like your name or a family members name.

helpful website on the matter of phishing prevention, and even has
 the top ten prevention tips.
